Schwinn Women’s High Timber Mountain Bike Review
I have been an avid female mountain biker since I joined my school’s brand-new mountain-biking team during my sophomore year of high-school.
Now, I’m a middle-school teacher and a mother of a little one, so things in my life often get hectic, but i still try to get out on the trails at least a few times a month.
Since I live deep in the heart of suburbia with my family, I’m also forced to drive a short way to reach my favorite trails. Mountain biking is my greatest hobby, but I’ve always had so much trouble trying to find a bike that fits my specifications and is comfortable for me to ride.
Because my bike so often and I have to drive to the trails I use, I need a bike that’s durable as well as comfortable and easy to transport. I’ve spent a long time searching for a new bike, and a friend recommended the Schwinn Women’s High Timber Mountain Bike to me a few months ago.
I decided to try it out, and I believe I’ve had enough experience with it now to share my informed opinion.
Schwinn Women’s High Timber Mountain Bike Review
Comfort
Comfort is a major concern for me when it comes to choosing a mountain bike. If I’m going to be riding several miles down a wilderness trail, I don’t want to be in pain! The reason I decided to trust my friend’s recommendation of the High Timber in the first place is that it is a Schwinn Bikes.
I know that Schwinn bikes are renowned for their quality, comfort, and durability, so I found comfort in knowing I was purchasing from a reputable brand. In terms of comfort, Schwinn does not disappoint with the Schwinn Women’s High Timber.
I have a delicate frame and I bruise easily, so, as much as I love it, mountain biking has never been exactly painless for me. The High Timber is the most comfortable bike I’ve ever been on it has a steel frame, which contributes to comfort and smoothness while on the trails.
Plus, it’s equipped with a suspension bike fork that helps minimize the feel of bumps on, especially turbulent trails. The one complaint I have is that the seat, while advertised as padded is, in reality, fairly hard, so long rides can get uncomfortable.
Gear Quality
With the Women’s High Timber, Schwinn lives up to its reputation in terms of gear quality. The High Timber’s gears are incredibly versatile. It’s equipped with a 21-speed Shimano rear derailleur, which allows you to ride at practically any speed you prefer.
The bike also includes SRAM twist shifters that let you change bike gears quickly and incredibly smoothly, which is extremely helpful on bumpy roads or roads that change inclination frequently.
Brake and Tire Quality
The Schwinn Women’s High Timber Mountain Bike’s brakes and tires are also top-notch. Its alloy wheels are light for easy transportation but are also strong and durable. The tires are rugged enough to brave almost any terrain, from gravel to rocky dirt trails.
As for the brakes, they are alloy linear pull brakes, which allow you to slow down and stop extremely quickly. This feature is great, especially on windy trails with hairpin turns.
However, the brakes can be a bit jerky at times but, once you get used to them, you should be able to achieve smooth, fast stops.
Specs
I’m very into the appearance of my things, so I’ll start with the color of the bike. It’s available in many different colors, but I got mine in a beautiful shade of baby blue.
It’s very cute and the color is true to the available online pictures. The frame of the bike itself is crafted from a durable steel.
When it came in the mail, the entire package weighed only forty-five pounds, which makes transportation of the bike itself extremely easy, as it weighed even less once I took it out of the box.
The bike is forty-one inches by twenty-three inches by sixty-eight inches; it fits easily into my car. The brakes are linear pull, and the wheel size is twenty-six inches.
Bottom Line
The Schwinn Women’s High Timber Mountain Bike was a great choice for me; I’ve been extremely happy with it It’s an awesome bike for any woman who is searching for durability and affordable bike.
The cons of the bike, such as a hard seat and minimally jerky brakes, are very minor and are made up tenfold by the overall quality of the bike. The reliability and excellent warranty of Schwinn as a company are also reassuring for such a large purchase.
Plus, the bike itself costs less than $200, which is incredibly affordable compared to many cheap mountain bikes of comparable quality.
All in all, I’m glad I was recommended the Schwinn High Timber and decided to give it a try; I would recommend it to any woman who loves mountain biking as much as I do.
